KeHIA: Digital Health Technical Lead

The Kenya Health Informatics Association (KeHIA) is looking for a Digital Health Technical Lead who will provide overall leadership to KeHIA technical activities.

KeHIA is a professional society legally registered by the Government of Kenya to promote the development and practice of biomedical informatics in Kenya solely aimed at continuous improvement of access to, and affordability of quality of healthcare services delivered to Kenyans.

The Digital Health Technical Lead  will be responsible for supporting the KeHIA Board to implement KeHIA’s technical strategy, provide routine technical leadership which includes ensuring effective implementation and successful delivery of project deliverables, among other responsibilities.

Responsibilities


The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

  • Support the KeHIA Board to implement KeHIA’s technical strategy.

  • Provide routine technical leadership which includes ensuring effective implementation and successful delivery of project deliverables.

  • Representing KeHIA at official meetings and other engagements.

  • Any other responsibilities as instructed by the Board through the Secretary General.

For the project on strengthening digital health financing, the incumbent will specifically be responsible to:

  • Disseminate information and facilitate sharing of knowledge and enhance networking around openIMIS in Africa

  • Contribute to collaborative efforts aimed at establishing capacity strengthening the nexus of health financing and digital health through increased adoption, use and sustainable support and maintenance of OpenIMIS in Africa

  • Community of Practice track: Expanding the OpenIMIS Community of Practice in Africa by supporting open source ecosystems for national and subnational schemes

For the second project, the incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Leading KeHIA to support and contribute to efforts aimed at ensuring that laws and policies on digital health technologies to achieve UHC commitments are developed and adopted at both national and county level by 2030

  • Advocate for people-centered digital health Standards and for standardization of digital health services and applications to achieve the goals of UHC.

  • Conduct research to analyse the standards and guidelines (national and/or international) that informed development and operation of existing digital health services and applications in the country and make recommendations on ideal standards.

  • Increased adoption and use of digital health technologies at the national and county government for access to equitable, affordable and quality health care;

  • Advocate for implementation of national government policy commitments to adopt and use digital health technologies as well as for formulation of policy commitments at county level

  • Identify government digital health champions (national and county health informatics officers) to champion policy formulation and implementation on adoption and use of digital health technologies.

  • Support and facilitate roundtable dialogues with Ministry of Health Technical Working Groups (UHC & Health Informatics), Ministry of ICT, Media and Private Sector
