Session V / Break-out session

Topic: Testing

The session was about openIMIS testing and the process involved. The testing process is managed by the Swiss TPH team who supports all the implementation support tender. They call for testers through the ICC and regional hub to test the user-facing side of openIMIS. Testers are assigned test cases, which are organized into functional blocks and categories. Multiple testers work on the same test case, following step-by-step instructions and comparing the expected result with their own result. Any issues or problems are reported, and the release team addresses them. The testing process involves collaboration and utilizes a platform called Destiny. There were challenges in finding testers and scheduling the testing, especially with academic institutions. Incentives and recognition were discussed as possible ways to motivate testers, including certificates of contribution to the public good. The importance of thorough testing for quality assurance was emphasized, and it was suggested to involve universities and organize workshops for testing. The budget for testing was mentioned as a limitation, but community support and engagement were considered essential for the credibility and stability of the tool. The session also touched upon budget constraints and future plans.
