Project: 2025 Student project: openIMIS offline mode
Content
Project Summary
This project will focus on different approaches to implement an offline storage system for the existing openIMIS Web-Application. The project will be done as part of a master thesis. Hence, the project will be about: “Enhancing Data Reliability and Accessibility in Health Insurance Management Systems through Offline Storage Solutions in low- and middle-income countries“.
Research questions:
Which offline data storage architecture best balances performance and cost-effectiveness for health insurance systems in low- and middle-income countries?
Which metrics define performance in an offline data storage system and what are the related challenges and chances in different LMICs?
What are the trade-offs between different offline storage architectures (e.g. distributed, hybrid cloud, local databases) in terms of performance, cost, and scalability?
How can data integrity and security be maintained in offline data storage systems used for openIMIS?
