Project Summary

This project is supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, funded by the German Government (BMZ), and implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) of Nepal. The primary objective is to strengthen the capacities of institutions responsible for social health protection and healthcare provision under the Nepal Health Sector - Strategic Plan (NHS-SP) through the Support to the Health Sector Strategy II (S2HSS-II). The project focuses on three key areas:

  1. Enhancing the institutional capacities of the Health Insurance Board (HIB) to ensure the financial sustainability of Nepal’s national health insurance scheme.

  2. Improving evidence-based health sector management at the municipal level, emphasizing the inclusion of vulnerable women and marginalized groups.

  3. Strengthening the institutional capacity of state actors to integrate and network digital information systems within healthcare services.
