In a nutshell
openIMIS, an open source software to manage health financing and social protection schemes, has been certified as a digital public good by the Digital Public Good Alliance. Since Sep 2021 it is listed in the digital public goods registry.
openIMIS, has been implemented in 8 countries (Cameroon, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gambia, Mauritania, Niger, Nepal and United Republic of Tanzania) for 12 schemes, covering almost 10 million beneficiaries (as of April 2022).
During the Steering Group Meeting participants can learn about the interoperability of the software in diverse country and use case settings, presented by several openIMIS implementer teams (session I). Beyond the scope of openIMIS, looking also at other Digital Public Goods, business models will be discussed that show what makes the uptake of open source solutions in health and social protection attractive for implementer and developer teams.
