Background
Sources of Funding
GIZ is represented in the openIMIS Initiative in two roles, which both contribute funds to the current request for application:
- the sector initiative "Social Protection" as part of the GIZ Department for Sector and Global Programmes (GloBe) disburses funds from the German and Swiss Development Corporations through the openIMIS Initiative co-ordination desk to further improve the software and to strengthen the communities around openIMIS.
- the bi-lateral GIZ Programme "Support to the Health Sector" in Nepal disburses funds to further enhance openIMIS functionality to meet requirements from the Nepali implementation.
Review Process
Digital Square manages a very transparent and collaborative Open Application Process (OAP) to identify relevant proposals in three major phases:
Phase | Description | Tools |
---|---|---|
Concept Note | Applicants prepare concept notes as expressions of interest, outlining the scope and basic strategy of their project. Digital Square and GIZ then identify out-of scope proposals and remove them from the process. | |

Review & Investment | The Digital Square core team forms a peer review committee and identifies the most promising applications according to the prioritization framework, which are then reviewed by the Digital Square governing board. |
