This checklist is intended to act as an orientation for current implementers and users of openIMIS as they start to plan their migration to the new modular architecture.

Step 1: Familiarization with Modular version

The fist step when preparing the migration to the modular version, is to familiarize oneself with the new version. This can be done using the demo server to try out the different functionalities and get used to the new interface: Log In - openIMIS

Step 2: Feedback to Developers

Once you are familiar with the new modular version it is important to go through each module and check weather it fulfils the requirements of the scheme and has the same functionalities as in the legacy version. For example, if a personalized development was made in the legacy version, it will most likely need to be re-done in the modular version. Therefore, implementers should be in contact with developers to communicate these needs to make sure that once the migration is complete, the same functionalities will be available for all users. The following sub-steps should be followed:

  • Go through all the processes of your scheme and identify gaps or developments that need to be done.

  • Clearly communicate these to the developers.

  • Check the developments once completed

Step 3: User training

The main difference between the legacy and the modular version, for the point of view of the end user, is the interface. Indeed, colors, fonts, and certain tabs have changed. Therefore, an important step in the transition will be to conduct trainings to introduce end users to the new interfaces. This will also mean to consolidate and update all training material beforehand. The following sub-steps have been identified:

  • Consolidate all existing material

  • Update existing material with new interfaces

  • Organize trainings for different group of actors
