Study Tour

Study Tour

Monday, June 22, 2026  |  8:45 – 16:30

Social protection and health organizations increasingly seek to observe openIMIS implementations to learn from real-world experiences and processes. An organized study tour is an operational visit which helps them draw parallels to their own contexts, aiding in customization, configuration, and deployment of openIMIS for their specific needs.

About the organizations

  • The Social Security Fund (SSF) of Nepal runs an openIMIS-based system for social security programs to formalize labor protections, ensure timely compensation for work-related injuries, and provide comprehensive health coverage for formal sector employees - including migrant workers abroad.

  • The Health Insurance Board (HIB) of Nepal plays a crucial role in advancing the country’s national health insurance efforts, working to provide broader access to healthcare services and financial protection for its citizens. openIMIS is used to manage all core processes of the national health insurance program - from beneficiary enrollment to claims processing.

  • Dhulikhel Hospital is a 500-bed tertiary hospital covering a population of approximately 2.5 million people. Empaneled with HIB and SSF, this allows observations of both openIMIS program and system processes.
