Interoperability Sandbox
Rationale
The openIMIS Interoperability Sandbox serves as a labartory for openIMIS developers and intersted non-technical community members to experiment with the interoperability capabilities of openIMIS in joint scenarios with other digital public goods.
From the beginning of it’s existance, the openIMIS Initiative has put a priority on enabling interoperability of openIMIS with other digital public goods and within national requirements in different countries. Although openIMIS is strongly aligning with international information exchange standards such as HL7-FHIR, it is neither feasible nor possible to develop or even showcase out-of-the-box interoperability. On the other hand, we cannot use existing real-world implementations of openIMIS interoperability scenarios to expain the potential of and the need for interoperability. High confidentiality needs for real world data simply does not permit to showcase real-world systems.
Here the interoperability sandbox comes in to allow a realistic simulation of real-world scenarios.
Please be aware that maintaining a sandbox environment is a very challenging task as there are many 3rd party tools involved that are not under our control. Although all the interoperability scenarios were at one point up and running, some of them will require an update. but there are reasonable chances that they can be rebuild for live-demos or that there are recordings of older live domenstrations.
Interoperability Scenarios
- IO Scenario: OpenHIE — The OpenHIE archtiecture specification defines a high level structural blueprint for national digital health infrastructure. The openIMIS Interoperability Sandbox provides a few workflows in this context.
- IO Scenario: DCI — The specifications of the Digital Convergence Initiative (DCI) define a high level structural blueprint and data exchange standards for digital support in national social protection systems. The openIMIS Interoperability Sandbox provides a few workflows in this context.
- IO Scenario: Payment Layer — During the payment layer lab, the openIMIS Initiative ran a few projects to explore interoperability around payments.
