Description:

This breakout session will explore key lessons emerging from Nepal’s health insurance implementation experience, with a particular focus on strengthening systems, improving service delivery, and supporting ongoing reform efforts. Drawing on perspectives from national institutions and development partners, the session will highlight practical experiences and innovations that can contribute to a more efficient, accountable, and people-centered health insurance system.

Presentations will cover: 

  1. Local innovations and operational experiences from the Social Security Fund (SSF), 

  2. Efforts by the Health Insurance Board (HIB) to strengthen digital systems, interoperability, and data exchange through initiatives such as FHIR-based APIs and IT system reforms, and 

  3. Reflections from GIZ Nepal on building CoP. 

The session aims to facilitate dialogue on what has worked, what challenges remain, and how lessons learned can inform Nepal’s ongoing journey toward sustainable Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
