Description:

Part A:

As part of the openIMIS Interoperability Sandbox Setup Project, this session presents a working interoperability scenario between Medic's Community Health Toolkit (CHT) and openIMIS, designed to close the feedback loop between claim validation and community health workers on the ground. Using FHIR Subscription resources and openHIM as an interoperability layer, the workflow automatically notifies CHT when a claim reaches validated status in openIMIS, triggering a structured feedback task for the responsible CHW, whose response is then submitted back to openIMIS as a FHIR Communication resource. The session will be co-facilitated with the CHT local team present in Kathmandu - with whom this interoperability scenario was jointly developed - and is an opportunity for open discussion on real-world deployment considerations, FHIR-based event-driven architectures, and the potential of connecting community health and insurance data flows.

 

Part B:

As part of the openIMIS Interoperability Sandbox Setup Project, this session presents the eClaiming workflow in openIMIS and the case for designing it around open standards rather than one-off, point-to-point integrations between each EMR/EHR and the insurance system. Following the HL7 FHIR R4 standard and the openHIE architecture (which separates the system at the point of care, a shared interoperability layer that validates and routes data, and the health insurance/financing system into distinct, well-defined roles) the session walks through how a claim generated at the point of care can be transmitted, checked, and adjudicated through that shared layer, without requiring a custom connector for every system, every country, or every upgrade. Rather than a live demonstration, for which time will not allow, the session points participants to newly available documentation to start implementing eClaiming on their own systems, including a recorded walkthrough of a real working integration between Bahmni and openIMIS as a concrete reference case.

 

Part C:

As part of the openIMIS Interoperability Sandbox Setup Project, this session presents a working integration between openIMIS, MOSIP, and openG2P, showing how a Social Protection system can verify a beneficiary's identity and check program eligibility against national ID and registry data using a shared set of open standards — without building a custom connector for each system. Following the Digital Convergence Initiative (DCI) standards, the workflow allows openIMIS, acting as the Social Protection system, to trigger an identity check against MOSIP and eligibility checks against openG2P's Social and Farmer Registries at the moment of enrollment — using the beneficiary's national ID as the common key across all three systems. The session closes with a live demonstration of this exact workflow: Sunil Parajuli and Maxime Ngoe will walk through a real enrollment case (confirming a farmer's identity, family composition, and poverty status in real time) to show, end to end, what standards-driven interoperability looks like in practice.
