Workflow 1: QR Code-Based Data Retrieval

This workflow enables openIMIS to collect an individual’s civil information directly by scanning a QR code issued by MOSIP.

Standards Compliance

  • The QR code follows the ISO/IEC 18013-5 and Claim 169 standards for identity credential encoding.

  • It encapsulates essential demographic and cryptographically signed attributes.

Workflow Steps

  1. QR Code Issuance (MOSIP)

    • MOSIP generates a secure QR code containing individual details:

      • Name, Surname

      • Date of Birth

      • Gender

      • Unique Identification Number (UIN)

      • Optional: Address, Nationality, Biometric Hash (if permitted)

    • The QR code is digitally signed to ensure authenticity.

  2. QR Code Presentation

    • The individual presents their MOSIP-generated QR code to the openIMIS enrolment officer.

    • The QR code can be scanned from a openIMIS Policy Management App.

  3. Data Capture in openIMIS

    • openIMIS scans the QR code

    • The system verifies the signature and extracts the civil data.

    • Retrieved data auto-populates the enrolment form in openIMIS.

  4. Confirmation and Storage

    • The enrolment officer validates the prefilled data with the individual.

    • openIMIS stores the data with a reference to the MOSIP UIN for future verification.

Advantages

  • Offline-capable (if QR code contains all needed data)

  • Fast and user-friendly for enrolment in low-connectivity areas
