2024-11-27 Bhela Discussion: Beneficiary Management Requirements
Social protection is facing growing challenges worldwide, particularly as a result of economic crises, demographic change and extreme climatic events. In this complex environment, governments need modern systems for data collection, management and utilisation. Social Registers (SR) and Integrated Beneficiary Registers (IBR) are recognised as key tools to make social protection systems more transparent, effective and adaptable. They improve data accuracy and enable targeted resource allocation. With up-to-date information on households and individuals, social programmes can help vulnerable groups, avoid duplication and speed up administrative procedures. At the same time, they promote closer cooperation between governments, non-profit organisations and municipal institutions.
Thomas Byrnes & Jeries Shahin, on behalf of the openIMIS initiative, have gathered requirements for social registry and integrated beneficiary solutions by interviewing key experts and implementers in the sector e.g. from WB, ILO, WFP and UNICEF.
In the Bhela meeting on 27 November 2024, Thomas & Jeries introduced key requirements that are needed to offer comprehensive social registry and integrated beneficiary registry solutions.
