KeHIA: openIMIS Development Kenya

The Kenya Health Informatics Association (KeHIA) is looking to onboard a development company to support the implementation and customization of openIMIS in Kenya.

Key Project Responsibilities include;

  • Developing specifications for openIMIS customization and interoperability with other systems.

  • Customizing openIMIS and build interoperability with external systems to meet the specifications developed.

  • Developing capacity building materials based on customized openIMIS

  • Provide trainings to the system users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop specifications for openIMIS customization and interoperability with other
    systems

  • Customize openIMIS and build interoperability with external systems to meet the specifications developed

  • Lead the testing of the developed software

  • Lead the documentation efforts of software development

  • Develop capacity building materials based on the customized openIMIS

  • Provide trainings to the system users

  • Engage with the global openIMIS community of practice and the local community of
    practice in Kenya.

Team Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering,
    Informatics, or any other related field.

  • 7 years of professional experience as a systems architecture and design building scalable
    and high performance software solutions in client/server environments

  • 5 years of professional experience as a Full Stack Software Developer and systems
    architect with open source development frameworks, especially based on Python

  • Experience in working with SQL databases (PostgreSQL would be an advantage)

  • Knowledge of GraphQL

  • Professional experience in project management of software development projects

  • 2 years of experience in health systems projects in Sub-Saharan Africa

  • Experience with Material UI would be an advantage

  • Understanding of FHIR APIs especially in the Kenyan context

  • Experience in setting up internet-hardened server systems

  • Experience using Docker for installation and packaging own developments

  • Knowledge of Digital Health ecosystem in Kenya would be a plus

  • Experience with openIMIS is desired but not essential
