Session II: Short profile of speakers

Saurav Bhattarai, Advisor, openIMIS Coordination Desk / GIZ

Saurav Bhattarai is an adviser GIZ, in the team that forms the Global Coordination Desk of the openIMIS initiative. In his current role, he supports various implementations of openIMIS exchange knowledge and be a part of the community of practice. Prior to this, Saurav was supporting the implementation of openIMIS in Nepal for managing the national social health insurance scheme.

Ubah Thomas Ubah, Social Protection Specialist, World Bank, Nigeria Country Office

 Ubah Thomas is a Social Protection Specialist with the Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice of the World Bank. In his role, he supports the design and implementation of Social Protection delivery systems, which include targeting and beneficiary systems, payment systems and social protection information systems. Among other things, he currently supports the delivery of safety net interventions in Nigeria, and is the co-Task Team Leader for the implementation of the CORE-MIS, which is an opensource information system aimed at supporting social protection interventions. He has over 10 years’ experience deploying information systems for the delivery of various development programs, including many years delivering social safety interventions using information technology tools. 

 Alexis Boncenne, Emergency Specialist, Beneficiary Data Management / UNICEF

 Alexis Boncenne is a Beneficiary Data Specialist at UNICEF Headquarters where he provides technical support to roll-out in the HOPE MIS in the framework of Humanitarian Cash Transfer Programmes.  He has nine year of experience in Latin-America, the Middle East and Sub-saharan supporting Social Protection to use multiple source of data that ease implementation and decision making processes.

 Rodrigo Asumpcao, Social Protection MIS Expert, Social Protection Department / ILO

 Rodrigo Assumpção is a Social Protection MIS Specialist in the International Labour Organization (ILO), focusing in the implementation of ICT projects in Social Protection organizations. He has worked as a consultant for ISSA, the ILO and the World Bank.  Before that he worked for the Government of Brazil as the CEO of Dataprev (The Social Security Information and Technology Enterprise of Brazil).

Anita Mittal, Senior Advisor Digital Social Protection, Global Programme Innovation and Learning in Social Protection / GIZ

Anita is a senior advisor at GIZ leading the convergence initiative for the Sector Initiative Social Protection and SPIL program. She has extensive experience of working in African and Asian countries in the design and implementation of   Digital ID and Social protection information systems in her role as a technical expert for the World Bank. She also worked on several e governance projects for the Digital India program including leading the e-governance standards and interoperability project for the Ministry of ICT. She holds a bachelors and master’s in computer science   and has during her early part of career worked for multinational companies in the private sector in various roles on application development.
