Collaboration between openIMIS and academia

openIMIS is supported by various universities and their networks to help broaden its knowledge base and increase its reach. These academic institutions are building various capacities related to openIMIS, ranging from software users to implementing organizations. They are also using openIMIS to demonstrate health financing workflows.

Why use openIMIS?

The decision by universities to implement work with openIMIS was the result of various needs: a lack of practical health financing know-how among students, limited learning tools and real-life scenarios to demonstrate the operational side of social health protection (enrollment, claims submission, reports, etc), and the lack of linkages between clinical procedures in medical schools and information systems, particularly on health financing.

Meet some of the universities working with openIMIS

The openIMIS Country Hub in Indonesia plans to embed openIMIS into has introduced openIMIS as a teaching tool for the Master of Public Health (MPH) curriculum at Universitas Gadjah Mada. The university launched its two-year MPH in 1990 and admits 200-300 students into the program each year. At present the MPH offers ten majors.
